Our program relies on a relationship and agreement between the school, the parents and us. If we haven’t already established this agreement, unfortunately we cannot deliver to your school. If you’d like to see if you school is interested in having us come to drop off lunches, please Contact Us

At Children's Menu, we don’t use peanuts or tree nuts in our school meals and we use wheat-free tamari instead of soy sauce. We do, however, have the above allergens (except peanuts) in our kitchen and we use them in our Retail Store meals. While we take extra care not to cross-contaminate, if your child has a severe or life threatening allergy, we encourage you to be aware of the risks. We charge a small fee for gluten-free or vegan dairy substitutions to cover the cost of these speciality ingredients.

Almost everything is made from scratch in the Children's Menu kitchen in Los Angeles. We source a lot of our ingredients from organic farms, support local produce whenever possible and use hormone/antibiotic-free proteins from responsible fisheries and ranches. We never use processed foods that contain artificial sweeteners and added sodium and we have recently switched to using natural sweeteners like agave, honey, or maple whenever possible. We make our own sauces and use simple, whole ingredients in every lunch we send out.

Our trusty drivers deliver your child’s meals warm directly to your school in time for lunch!

We are happy to accommodate any allergies or dietary restrictions that are notated on each day but please know that we are serving over 20 schools a day and lots of hungry kiddos, so we cannot accommodate any other changes or modifications to meals. We appreciate your understanding!

Cancellations are accepted until 7am day off and will receive a credit towards a future order. Please send your request via email to hello@citizensprout.com

How late can I place my order? Order cut off time is 11pm the night before. Same day orders are available for a $2 fee and must be submitted before 7am via email.

Each main meal container is labeled with your child’s name, school, group, meal and allergies. Our “sides of the day” are not labeled for easy distribution.

Our kitchen is on a mission to make sure your children receive the freshest and most delicious food possible. Due to our freshness commitment, the sides do change daily. Some examples of our sides of the day are: Cucumber slices and homemade hummus , watermelon and sliced grapes, carrot sticks with ranch and homemade cranberry granolas bar (nut free), cheddar cheese squares and sliced peaches, etc.

Our photography is there to assist you with your ordering and we make every endeavor to ensure our meals match the images on the website. However, as our sides are rotating and based on freshness, some sides may differ from the photo. But don’t worry — we make everything is delicious and child-friendly.

It takes a lot to make our little business tick and we not only depend on the hard work of our staff, but also their passion and dedication to the Citizen Sprout mission. Your gratuity goes a long way in showing them your appreciation for what they do. We appreciate you considering at least a 15% gratuity per order, which can be added at check out.

Program FAQs

Typically, each meal (unless it states a la carte on our menu) will come with two containers - one hot container with your main meal and one cold container with two fresh and seasonal “sides of the day.” This plating allows us to keep hot food hot and cold food cold.

Our containers are collected at the end of each lunchtime, but we do provide to-go containers for kids who would like to take home their unfinished meal.

Deliver Zero containers are made of sturdy 100% bpa free plastic and can sustain up to 1,500 washes per container. In one year alone, Citizen Sprout is saving 2.2 million packages out of landfills and trash cans.

We believe that we have a unique position as a company in the food service industry to effect change and move the needle on sustainability in a real way. Not only is the volume of packages we are saving impressive (2.2 million in one year) but as we serve young children, the most important aspect is exposing this young generation to a daily reusable practice.

We know this is new and we know this is different. But we are committed to this new way of packaging and appreciate the tremendous support of parents and schools alike as we embark on this new path.
